The one-day workshop on communication protocols is designed for individuals who want to expand their knowledge about the basics of Telecommunication and common SCADA protocols. The course starts with basics of communication then goes into details of Modbus as an example of a common Industrial Communication Protocol. Then EtherNet/IP communication protocol is discussed in depth as a common protocol in Process Control applications. The course concludes by in depth discussion about IEC 61850 Protocol as example of an advanced data model-based communication protocol that is used for intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) at electrical substations

At the end of this one day workshop, you should have an in depth understanding of the basics of Telecommunication and the some of the most common SCADA protocols.

This workshop is instructed by industry experts with many years of experience related to the subject. Individuals that successfully complete the course will receive Certificate of Completion from IEEE Control Systems and Instrumentation Chapter. This workshop is qualified for Formal Activity Professional Development credit.

Instructor Profiles

Mr. Shenouda is a Project Manager and Senior Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Specialist at Schneider Electric with over 24 years of professional experience. He has a diverse background in EIC, having worked extensively across many industries, including: automation, MMM Mining-Metal-Mineral, material handling, cement, WWW Water-Waste Water treatment, Food & Beverage, pharmaceutical, Data Center, Power Generation and oil and gas. Bassem specializes in project management and as a project lead in EIC.

 

 

Mr. Netarwala is Solution Architect at Schneider Electric Canada, with 18 years of experience in industrial automation handling execution of numerous projects for reputed organizations in the Canada, Middle East and India. Last 13 years he has been with Schneider Electric, which owns the brand of Modicon PLC, inventors of Modbus communication protocol. Many of his projects were used as pilots to develop the next generation of Schneider solutions. Intelligent LV MCC (iMCC) was delivered by Khojema’s team in the year 2008 with all motor controls done over Modbus communication protocol.

 

 

 

Mr. Stolte is a SCADA and Automation Systems engineer with GE Renewable Energy. He has over 15 years of experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of SCADA and controls systems for electrical substations. He has also developed numerous configuration management and network troubleshooting tools and processes used by substation protection and automation engineering teams within GE. Brad has been involved with project implementing IEC61850 since the early days of the standard and has commissioned IEC61850 based solutions on three continents.
