The January Presentation will offer an Application Review of MV Protection Relays for  Transmission and Small Power Substations. The speaker will review the following topics:

  • An introduction to digitalization of the substation for reliable protection.
  • Process Bus implementation for substations, elimination of copper wiring
  • Cybersecurity, for proactive compliance
  • Substation Asset management, to optimize resources
  • Grid monitoring with dynamic simulation
  • Integrated engineering for planning testing and startup
  • Fault and outage management
  • Main Tie Main Schemes and Centralized Bus Bar Protection
  • Substation Digital Twin, for creating protection assets in the Cloud and virtual testing

Note that this presentation will have a stronger vendor focus than our typical presentations. The applications discussed will employ the Siemens Protection Relay Solution, but the basics of the applications are common to all Relay brands.
