IEEE Consultants’ Network of San Diego

Topic
“Some Origins of AI in San Diego”

Speaker: Tom Bartley

Abstract:

The presentation is a story about a man, his company, and a technology: Dan Greenwood, Netrologic, Neural Networks. From before the time he published an overview of neural networks in 1991 until his death in 2002, Dan was almost fanatical about the various applications of Artificial Neural Networks. He was a researcher’s researcher before Google, personally contacting the scientists who were leaders in their field. After reviewing a list of topics and applications researched by Netrologic 20 years ago, the presenter will share some personal experiences and where it led him. The list of topics includes plants, robotics, manufacturing machines, image compression, space shuttle engine, and more… A brief review of patent strategies will be added on at the end.
