Virtual Design-A-Thon

University Students from across the country are invited to a free 24-hour Bioengineering Design-A-Thon with a Virtual Meeting Format, hosted by the University of Illinois’ i-MADE* student organization. Students can form virtual teams and compete with other teams to design a medical product to be announced at the beginning of the event. The competition that will consist of educational workshops, engaging design initiatives, and opportunities to interact with fellow engineers across the country. Teams will collaborate overnight with access to virtual office hours with professionals for any help they might need. By the following afternoon, each team will craft a presentation that explains their final design. After these presentations, a panel of judges will vote on the best project. This event is an incredible opportunity for engineering students to gain valuable skills in solving real world problems, and no prior experience is required. Amazon gift cards will be awarded to top performing teams. Everything will be done in less than 24 hours from the convenience of your own laptop or computer.

• Register for the Event with your name, email, student year, school name and your preferences for a team and submit by January 22nd.
• You will be sent instructions for the event and how to log onto a Discord server from your laptop or computer.
• Check into the Discord server on Friday, January 29 at 2:00 pm MST (4:00 pm CST). Learn about the design challenge, form teams, meet other participants, attend the workshop, and work through the night.
• On Saturday, January 30, Presentations, Judging and Awards. Completed by 10:00 am MST (Noon CST).
