The expanded use of Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) is largely due to the changing nature of the equipment and systems they protect.  Today’s increasingly digital technology is also increasingly susceptible to surge related damage.  The presentation will cover the UL 1449 safety standard for surge protective devices, NEC requirements where SPDs must be used, how SPDs work, SPD construction, minimizing installation impact on SPD performance, as well as a NEMA SPD application guide for best practices.
