Sierra Nevada: Reach for the Stars
Pat Remias, Vice President of Engineering, Sierra Space joins our Lunch and Learn to share her expertise from over 36 years of experience in the space and aerospace business.
Biography:
Pat Remias is currently serving as Sierra Space’s VP of Engineering, responsible for the growth and development of Sierra Space’s outstanding Engineering teams and advanced infrastructure across three major Business Units (Space Exploration, Space Technologies, and Propulsion Systems). Prior to this role, Ms Remias held the position of Sr. Director of Programs, with profit and loss responsibility for the Space Mission Systems product line. Her portfolio included the 18-spacecraft production build of the ORBCOMM Generation 2 (OG2) constellation, design and build of the DoD Space Test Programs’s STPSat-5 spacecraft (launched in 2018), and execution of a number of National Security Space programs. Ms. Remias has been with SNC/Sierra Space for over 11 years.
Ms. Remias has over 36 years of experience in the space and aerospace business, spanning both Government and commercial programs. Prior to joining SNC, she was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Space for Comtech AeroAstro where she had program responsibility for 90% of the group's revenue, including successfully launching STPSat-1 and the first STP-SIV bus. Prior to AeroAstro, Ms. Remias spent nearly a decade at Orbital Sciences Corporation where she was program director and senior manager, with direct responsibility for space programs such as TSX-5, OrbImage (now GeoEye), APEX, OrbView-2, and many others. She started her career working for the Naval Air Systems Command where she was the lead engineer for laser-guided weapons and the US Navy’s early unmanned air vehicles (UAV) development program.
Ms. Remias holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Graduate Certification in Engineering Management from Catholic University. She is an Advisory Board Member for Virginia Tech’s Department of Aerospace and Ocean (AOE) Engineering, a member of Women in Aerospace (WIA), and an Associate Fellow in AIAA.
