Old Business

  • Panel Discussion Event with Lehigh University SWE (Lead: Xiaochen Guo):

  • Event was a success; 17 students attended. Favorable comments by the students in the break-out rooms about the diversity of career paths the panelists had taken.

  • Note to limit the time allocated to panelists next time.

  • Bonnie will email the students encouraging them to join WIE.

  • Science Research Institute at Albright College (Lead: Bonnie Rhode):

  • Bonnie will supply a title and description for the event (April 13th at 6pm).

  • Bonnie proposes to limit attendees to 20 or 30. Possibility of hybrid meeting; Bonnie will check if her equipment supports this.

  • Bonnie will investigate getting appetizers for the event, and the cost.

  • Christine will follow up with IEEE on when the requested promotional materials will arrive.

  • Christine look into how to get our WIE start-up money.

  • R2 meeting (Carole Carey)

  • It was agreed with Carole that our R2 meeting would be a brainstorming/sharing session with the other R2 WIE Chairs. Proposed date Monday May 4 at 7:30pm

  • Christine will send a draft event title and description to Carole.

  • Karen Panetta talk

  • Christine will follow up with Karen to ask for dates in October, and whether the talk will be virtual.

  • Robert Tench talk

  • Xiaochen has set up a hybrid talk on Thursday September 22 at 7 pm at Lehigh.

  • Angelique Irvin talk

  • Possibly on Thursday Nov. 3 or Thursday Nov. 10 at 7 pm at Lehigh.

New Business

  • Xiaochen is moving to California, for a year at least. She will continue to be on our WIE committee (thanks Xiaochen!!!).

  • Betty offered to co-host events with SSCS when applicable, e.g. the Robert Tench and Angelique Irvin talks.

  • Christine will send the information on the Lehigh Valley Engineers Week banquet to the team.

  • Bonnie suggests that speakers should be thanked. Betty says certificates is normal.

  • Bonnie suggests attending the IEEE picnic (which is presently replacing the Awards Dinner).

Next Planning Meeting: April 4th, 2022, 7:30pm.
