Multi-agent systems:

Multi-Agent systems (MAS) is a self-organized computerized system that has a collection of many intelligent agents. The trend in the manufacturing industries to produce a large number of customized products with a low volume of production. These customizations of the product needed more flexibility to adopt the new variants in production to meet different user requirements. To address this issue, reconfigurable systems are more common where resources can be reconfigured in ongoing production. Flexibility plays a vital role that can address both hardware and software at the same time. This is often referred to as Plug & Produce, which can be achieved through MAS. The MAS is a collection of intelligent agents that can communicate and negotiate with each other to complete the overall production plan. In MAS each part and resource are an independent agent, that communicates with other agents to reach the manufacturing goals. This idea automatically handles the adaptation of new product variants in the manufacturing industry.
