In the backdrop of ENgineers day to commemorate the services of a great Engineer Sir M V IEEE Bangalore section - Educational Activites Committee and Women in Engineering Bangalore Affinity Group have organised this refreshing talk as to how students at large and engineering students in particular by way of their projects can do a lot of impactful work.

Technological interventions for the good of society
Biography:
Dr. Suresh H Jangamshetti is Professor in Department of E&EE, Basaveshwar Engineering College (Autonomous), Bagalkot with 37 years of teaching & research experience. He obtained M.Tech in Power Systems and Ph.D in Wind Energy from IIT Kharagpur. He is a FULBRIGHT alumnus – received Fulbright Nehru visiting lecture fellowship, to Michigan Technological University, Houghton during Fall 2011. His expertise are in Solar-Wind Energy Conversion, Power Systems and Energy Conservation. He has guided 7 PhDs, 100 UG, 67 PG projects and has filed two patents. He has received Rs. 100+ lakhs R&D grants and has 96 technical publications with 986 citations having 11 h-index & 14 i-10 index. He has established R&D infrastructure in SCADA for distribution automation and Renewable Energy application. Has organized 45 faculty/student development programs, attended 59 programs and delivered more than 150+ invited talks/webinars. He is Senior Member of IEEE with 34 years as IEEE member. He is also member of IEEE Power & Energy society, member of IEEE Education Society since 2002 & 2008 respectively. He is founder Chair IEEE North Karnataka Sub-Section (June 2020 to 2021). He has credit of introducing IEEE membership in North Karnataka in 1989. He is founder Branch Counselor of BEC-IEEE student branch in 1994. He has initiated starting of IEEE student branches not only in North Karnataka but also in Karnataka state. He has served as member of ExeCom of IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter. IEEE awards conferred on him are: IEEE-PES Bengaluru chapter’s ‘Outstanding Engineer’ award (2017), IEEE Bangalore section’s ‘Outstanding Branch Counselor’ award (2010), IEEE Bangalore section’s ‘Technical Publication’ award (2010), IEEE Region 10’s ‘Outstanding Branch Counselor’ (1996). He is also Fellow IE(I), LMISTE, LMISWE, LMSVAK, DMKRVP and Rotary member. He has been conferred with twelve different awards… Prominent ones are IREDA-NIWE (MNRE) ‘Best Research Work in Wind Energy’ in 2022, BVV Sangha’s ‘Best Teacher’ in 2018, VIFA’s ‘Lifetime Achievement for contribution to wind energy’ in 2016, etc.Presently he is Professor & Head E&EE, Basaveshwar Engineering College (Autonomous), Bagalkot and Director BVVS International Programs.
