A day in the life of a CISO for an education system

Biography:

Eric Wall has spent the past 26 years solving IT problems and securing organizations from global cybersecurity threats across public and private sectors.  With experience in the health care, insurance, telecommunications, wholesale, technology, and higher education fields, Eric has gained a reputation of partnering with business to make sure that Cybersecurity has a seat at the table.  Eric believes that this partnership is necessary with a distributed workforce, growing global threats, and a cybersecurity skills shortage.

 

Eric served as the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences until April of 2022 when he was named the Inaugural Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Arkansas System where he partners with all 22 University of Arkansas campuses, divisions, and units to identify, measure, and mitigate their cybersecurity risk.

 

Eric serves as the Academic Co-Vice Chair for ATARC’s Cybersecurity Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, and he is a newly elected Director of the InfraGard Arkansas Members Alliance.  Eric is also on the Board of Advisors for the Forge Institute.  Eric is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
