In modern industrial and manufacturing world, systems have integrated hardware and software components. Large systems often  fall under one of the following categories: healthcare automation, consumer logistics, aerospace controls, nuclear control systems, high-risk financial systems or life sustaining medical devices. The development and deployment of such a software product including embedded firmware is costly and bound by regulatory compliance contracts.  For these systems, a structured, documented and verifiable software quality management process that integrates well with the entire system is essential. IEEE Standard for Software Quality Assurance Processes -- IEEE Std 730™-2014 is a comprehensive, yet customizable process standard that can assist systems engineers and managers develop plans for Software Quality Assurance. This customizable standard is harmonized with ISO/IEC/IEEE’s Life Cycle Process standards as well. In this presentation Dr. Banerjee will outline how this standard can be used by various industries within the context of a system life cycle. 

Biography:

Dr. Banerjee, a Senior IEEE Member and a PMP, has many years of experience as a software/systems engineer, project manager and quality assurance professional who worked with large systems associated with the US Department of Energy and telecommunication industry. She is the current Chair of IEEE Chicago Section and has been actively involved with IEEE technical standards throughout her professional career, participating in many standard development working groups and reviewing IEEE and PMI standards. She has been an active member of the IEEE 730 working group and a balloter. She has published and presented several technical papers.
