The lecture is connected to the Swiss national program introducing performance-based navigation (chips), which has global navigation satellite
signals (GNSS) at its heart. An account is given of how we assess the signal-in-space of the lower airspace and report on the planned
GNSS jamming trials.

Biography:

Engineering diploma HTL in communication and computer science from the Technikum in Winterthur Switzerland. He holds additional degrees namely in electromagnetic compatibility, applied statistics, technology management and economics from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne and Zurich. From 1982 to 2016 he has been working with the Swiss Air Navigation Services Ltd. primarily in the fields of navigation, business development and program management both operational and technical. Before he has been with Siemens in research and development working on private branch exchanges. He held positions as assistent professor in communication and navigation systems at the University of Applied Science in Zurich and Winterthur and teaches occasional short courses. He is a senior member of the IEEE and serves as the chapter chair for the aerospace and electronic system society. His participation in other professional organizations includes the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Institute of Navigation, the Swiss Association Of Aeronautical Sciences and the Swiss Statistical Society. Participation in inter- and supranational working groups is another part of his activities. He is a patent owner and active as an expert witness on oath in Austria.
