Title: Toward a Sustainable Smart Mobility Society

Abstract

Japan is facing an aging issue.  In order to realize a sustainable society for the elderly, it is essential for them to have a mobility to interact in the society.  By creating active mobility with which the elderly can move on their own will, they can participate social activities.  Under the support by the Ministry of Education, Nagoya University Center of Innovation (COI) aims to realize a sustainable mobility society for the elderly that leads to active and joyful life.

Biography:

Dr. Hirofumi Aoki received M.E. and Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 2004 till 2007, he had been in the Man-Vehicle Laboratory, MIT as a postdoctoral associate as well as postdoctoral fellow of the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. Then, he worked at Toyota Motor Corporation, where he did R&D of the advanced driver assistance systems. In 2014, he became a professor at the Institutes of Innovation for Future Society, Nagoya University. He received the best scientific paper award in the ITS World Congress 2013 and the best paper award in IEEE-EmergiTech 2016. Dr. Aoki is a member of IEEE, JSME, and the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE).
