Education and Innovation Ecosystem at Furtwangen University, Germany
An innovation ecosystem at with a 170 year innovation history makes the Furtwangen University a unique place for education and innovation. The roots go back to a large clock maker school to support innovation in the clock industry in those days. The university is located in the southwest corner of Germany, bordered by Switzerland and France. It´s positioned in the heart of the famous Black Forest region. The campus hosts the largest historic clock museum worldwide, and is the home of the cuckoo clock.
The seminar style presentation will first outline the opportunities for NJIT/IEEE students to spend a semester or two in the International Semester at Furtwangen University. The International Semester for Engineering/Computing/IS is offered in English. Further, the industry and innovation ecosystem of the region in the context of Germany 4.0 will be xplained. The “Black Forest Ltd.” represents approx. 1,500 companies from the engineering, automotive, renewable energies and medical technologies sectors, all of which are driving forces of Industry 4.0.
