Speaker: Emeritus Professor Fred Menk
Topic: Experience with FedSat – Over 25 Years On, Still Relevant Today

FedSat(Australia's 'Federation Satellite'), launched in 2002, was Australian scientific s research satellite launched from Tanegashima Space Center, Japan by a NASDA H-IIA launch vehicle on 14 December 2002. It marked a turning point in the nation’s return to space, paving the way for the thriving space sector we see today.

In this talk, Prof. Fred Menk will reflect on his experiences with the FedSat mission. Despite the project being more than 25 years ago, many of its lessons remain highly relevant for current and future space missions. From technical challenges to program management and collaboration, FedSat continues to provide insights into how we design, operate, and learn from space systems.
