Autonomous Urban Vehicle Design and Development
RAS Chapter of IEEE UET under the initiative by MADE Organization, USA with UET Lahore
under a MoU signed last year and in order to develop academic collaboration, promote human
capital development, and build a knowledge-sharing culture. The management of the event
mainly comprised of National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA), Human Centered
Robotics Lab (HCR) and Mechatronics and Control Engineering Department, UET Lahore.
It was organized successfully by RAS Chapter in collaboration with Mechatronics Club of
Mechatronics Department, UET Lahore. This competition is still under procession and two out
of three of its phases have been completed.
Phase I:
Dr. Ali Raza, Chairman of Mechatronics and Control Engineering Department, UET Lahore
presided over first phase. He gave the introduction of the software that the teams were going to
use in designing their vehicles. The initial and final requirements from the teams were explained
and complete technicalities of Solid Works, the software to be used in the whole design
procedure. This phase went on for about 4 hours in which all 20 participant teams had to design
their vehicle and get them evaluated. In the last hour, Dr. Ali Raza himself evaluated the teamsand the groups were given more time up till next round to finalize their designs.
Phase II:
Phase II started off without any delay and the teams were given another 3 hours to finalize their designs and final guidelines were given which followed by the final marking of designs.
Dr. Ali Raza and volunteers helped team members to solve the problems and grasp proper understanding of the flaws in designs. All the teams were directed to mail their designs before any delay for the next and last qualifier round of the competition.
