Tucson Section Excom 16 November 2023 Minutes

Excom called to order at 1804 MT by Joe Wu. Eight (8) attendees.

These are Joe Wu, Keith Kumm, Robert Wagoner, Richard Morse, Jude Coompson, Calvin Holmes, Jeremy Sharp, Andrea Martin

Minutes by Keith Kumm. Secretary David Cox unable to attend.

Wu, Wagoner and Kumm make a quorum.

Treasurer Report (Robert Wagoner)

   Student Branch expense to be processed, otherwise no activity.

   Account balance is still $54,070.09.

Previous (19 Oct) Excom Minutes Review

   Minutes accepted.

Student Branch Report (Jeremy Sharp, Calvin Holmes, Jude Coompson):

   More Helos project workshops planned.

   Main semester events now finished.

   Rising Stars, 6 attendees planned for 2024 with estimated expenses (trravel/hotel) at $5,214.

      This is just above $5,000 previous approved level. No motions. Debt card to be used.

   MTT Student Branch has nothing planned.

      A question about the last speaker (Anthony Grbic) concerned eNotice, not seen by all.

         The Grbic event had reimbursed expenses of $615.23.

LMAG Report (Keith Kumm)

   Nothing to report.

ESW 2024 Mar 4-8 Report (Joe Wu, Keith Kumm)

   Re: “Tech Tour,” consensus is that there are too many parts to coordinate. We will “bag it.”

      Re this decision: A motion to cancel the prior $1,500 commitment for transportion passed.

   We will report to ESW SC that we cannot organize a Tech Tour.

   We will send alternate information re: local attractions to the ESW Steering Committee.

   We need to eNotice this event to the Section.

SW Area Meeting Report (Richard Morse)

   This was held as a joint Area (with Central Area, incl. Hawaii) virtual meet at end of October.

   There was no participation from SW Area.

Old Business

   Keith has informed UA’s Debbie Claggett of our $1,000 decision to commit to an Award.

         Keith will coordinate contact, when UA supports, from them to Robert for money transfer.

New Business

   Student Branch will host a Hackathon (with UA Google club, et al). Details TBD.

Next Excom set for Wednesday, 6 Dec 6PM on Zoom.
