[Legacy Report] HALF A DAY PROGRAM ON BIG DATA ANALYTICS

IEEE Hyderabad Section in association with the IEEE Student Branch MJCET, conducted a half a day program on "Analytics With Big Data" on 27th July 2013. Since Big data is a boom in the software industry, 93 participants which included students from various institutions, faculty members and the Software engineers had attended this informative program. The guest speakers were Mr. Surya Putchala, CEO of Zettamine Technologies and Mr. Ritesh Gupta, Senior Architect, TechVedika Software Ltd. The Executive body members of IEEE CS organized this program with the help of the executive body of other chapters and made it a success.

Welcome Addresses.

Dr. Kaleem Fatima , Branch counselor , IEEE Student Branch MJCET delivered the welcome speech where she highlighted about the different events that took place under the banner of IEEE MJCET in cooperation with the chapters, IEEE CS, IEEE PES and IEEE WIE. She also briefed the audience about the Chapter , IEEE Circuits and Systems , that is soon going to be formed in MJCET. The participants were later addressed by the CSE Head of MJCET, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Moiz Qyser who praised IEEE for organizing events and workshops that have benefited the students in numerous ways.
Extending a warm welcome, Mr. P V S Maruthi , Chairman of IEEE Computer Society, Hyderabad Section introduced the speakers to the audience.

Technical Session.

The program was divided into two sessions. Mr. Surya Putchala commenced the first session. He focused on the topics :
1. What is Big data? Why is it a rage? What are Big data Approaches?
2. What is Hadoop? How does it work?
3. What are major differences between RDBMS and Hadoop?
4. Where did we use Hadoop?
The first session followed by a small tea break.

The Second session was taken up by Mr. Ritesh Gupta. In his talk, he outlined about Big Data with NoSQL databases. He also explained about
1. NoSQL Databases overview, types and examples.
2. MangoDB overview.
3. Applications of MangoDB.
4. Comparison between Rdbms schema and MangoDB.
5. Demonstrated, how to install, run and create objects.
At the end of each session, the crowd came up with many interesting queries which showed their enthusiasm and interest.
Conclusion.
The program concluded by a vote of thanks by Mr. Rajesh Ghosh, Vice Chairman, IEEE Computer Society, Hyderabad Section.
