The PES and IAS Chapters will sponsor a technical seminar on the topic of Variable Frequency Drives. The session will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at PSE&G’s Hadley Road Facility, 4000 Hadley Road, South Plainfield, NJ 07080-1192.

Topic:
The seminar will cover basic theory and troubleshooting of AC variable Frequency Drives. The agenda includes:

• Basic Drive theory
o Front End/ Precharge Circuit
o DC Link/Filter Section
o Output Section
o Interfacing and control

• Basic Troubleshooting
o Safety First!
o Signs of Physical damage / Smells
o Resistance Checks of the Power circuitry
o I/O Problems

The scope of this seminar is applicable to Variable Frequency Drives typically used for controlling motor speed in both Manufacturing as well as the HVAC sector of the Drive Business.

Agenda

The seminar fee includes lunch, refreshments and handouts. Non-members joining IEEE within 30 days of the seminar will be rebated 50% of the IEEE registration charge.

Four hours of instruction will be provided. If desired, IEEE Continuing Education Units (0.4 CEUs) will be offered for this course - a small fee of $45 will be required for processing.
