Urbanization is a natural result and driving force for social civilization. It has been covered all over the history of human being. Now a new urbanization process is brewing in China and developing/realizing Smart Cities is one of its core technologies. Here we will discuss how Internet of Things (IoT) can work for smart cities. A few researches and developments of IoT applications will be reviewed. After discussing the framework of IoT for smart cities, two main applications, mobile health services and smart lab, will be presented. Some key technologies, such as network invulnerability and social sensing will be discussed too.
