The presentation described the in situ testing of distribution cables using very low frequency (VLF) voltages according to IEEE Standard 400.2. The Standard includes criteria to assess the condition of XLPE, EPR and paper insulated cable circuits. How the criteria were established and their limitations was discussed, along with Partial Discharge (PD) testing using VLF.
