[Legacy Report] Expert lecture on “How to write a Technical Paperâ€
IEEE Student Branch, Zakir Husain college of Engineering and Technology Organised an expert
lecture on “How to write a Technical Paper” held at Conference room, Department of Electrical
Engineering, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology.
The response was great as it was attended by undergraduate and post-graduate students of the
College. There was an active participation of students of engineering faculty with their great intention
to enrich themselves in research activities.
The lecture was mainly focused on need of engineering students to help them effectively represent their
research work by writing Technical paper. Students of engineering irrespective of their branch, attended the lecture with common perspective of gaining communication abilities in field of research. Also, this
acquainted the students with a vast field of research topics in engineering. The Lecture was preceded by the introductory speech by Dr Mohd Rihan, Counsellor,IEEE AMU student
branch. He welcomed the guests and explained the significance of IEEE to students. He also praised the
IEEE Student Branch members for organizing such an Informative event. On this note, He invited Prof B.H
khan to grace the students.
Prof BH khan introduced the students with the help of PowerPoint slide presentation on ‘How to write
Technical paper’ .He initiated the lecture by giving an example of an abstract on “simultaneously ac-dc
power transmission’. The presentation was started with importance of effective communication in
research.
He also describes the four major quality of technical writing – Clarity, Accuracy, Correctness and
descriptiveness. For preparing a good technical paper one should go through assessing observation,
repetition of experiments, evaluating intellectual processes and provide permanent value. He defined the
research paper as organized analysis of subject, documented work, incorporating the findings, and
investigated paper.
He also addressed the specific format for an abstract defining each field in an order way.
At the end of the lecture the students were invited to ask questions. Finally, Mr Sagar bhardwaj, Chairman
IEEE AMU Student Branch thanked Prof BH khan, Dr Mohd Rihan, and all participants for making the event
