[Legacy Report] Paper presentation competition "Newtonstein"

Newtonstein paper presentation competition was held at Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology on 20th April. The selected topics shortlisted for the presentation in the conference covered diverse technological specialization like social networks, renewables and smart grid, smart materials, acoustics and industrial management. The competition has a unique theme of humanitarian topic other than the presentation in science and engineering background. A total of 64 abstracts were selected, out of which 22 teams were able to present their final paper. The winners were awarded some distinguished named awards selected one from each field of Electrical and Electronics Engg, Computer Science, Chemical and Mechanical Engg covering a total of 12 shortlisted topics. The team also had a chance to win Project funding and guidance for Humanitarian Projects exclusively from IEEE. The Humanitarian Paper is not compulsory to lie in any Domain. Dr Mohd Rihan, Counsellor IEEE AMU, Dr Mohd Yasir, Department of Applied Chemistry and Mr Zakia Ahmad, Department of Computer Science has graced the completion by being the jury members. The Michael Faradays Award for best paper in Field of Electrical and Electronics was coveted by  Faraz Islam and Mohd Noman for presenting on Intelligent Toll Road Traffic Control System. The Charles Babbage Award for best paper in Field of Computer Science was won by  Safia Rehmat and Mohd Hamza Owais who presented the topic Smart Grid Technology. The Ernest Rutherford Award  for best Paper in field Chemical Sciences/Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering went to  Sharif Kidwai and Bhanu Pandey for the topic Graphene’s Application to Boiler’s  Fabrication and Design. The Rudolf Diesel Award  for best paper in field of Mechanical Engineering was won by  Shashank Garg and Musfera Javed for presenting  Biogas from SWM Used In Off-Grid Power Generation System. The competition was organized by IEEE AMU student’s branch under the team headed by Mr Sagar Bhardwaj, Branch Chairperson.
