radar instrumentation for polar research that are being operated both on long-range and short-range

aircraft, and Uninhabited Aircraft Systems (UAS). The instrumentation frequency range extends from about 14 MHz to 18 GHz. The

instrumentation are designed to: (1) sound ice and image ice-bed interface; (2) map near-surface internal layers in polar firn and ice; (3) measure

thickness of snow cover over sea ice and map near-surface internal layers in polar firn with fine resolution of about 5 cm; and (4) measure

surface elevations with high-precision.
