We are happy to inform that the IEEE one day workshop has been conducted successfully on 13-04-2015 at Gayathri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (Autonomous) (GVPCE) Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam by the college IEEE student branch. The Guest speakers arrived to the college campus by 09.30AM as per the schedule. The total no. of registrations by the IEEE student members is 36, non-IEEE student members are 108 and teaching faculty is 6. The workshop has been started at 10.00AM by welcoming the speakers and governing body of the college on to the dais by Mr. S.Sudarshan, IEEE student branch Chair, followed by a prayer song.

After the prayer song there was an introduction session about college & courses offered by college and about the formation of IEEE student branch by Dr. A. B. Koteswara rao, Principal, Dr. K.Narasimha Rao, HOD-EEE & IEEE Student Counselor and Dr. N. Balasubramanyam, HOD-ECE. The program details are elaborated by Dr. Sastry V Vedula (Life member of IEEE), Sr. Professor, GVPCE, followed by vote of thanks by Vice Chair Mr. V. Krishna Kishan on behalf of IEEE student branch of GVPCE for permission, acceptance and support given by Management of GVPCE to conduct the one day workshop in college. There was a tea break at 10.45AM.

At 11.00AM, Ms Y. Priyusha, Executive member of IEEE student branch, introduced the first speaker of the workshop, Dr. David B. Durocher, President IAS-IEEE. He has delivered a talk on “Role of IEEE-IAS in Supporting Professionals Engaged in Applications of Electrical & Electronics Engineering” and also on “Electrical Arc Flash Hazards Global Safety Standards & Industry Solutions.” This talk has been ended at 12.15PM. Every one of us is very happy to know the importance of IEEE and its role in real time applications.

Then Dr. Sastry V. Vedula showed newly built, “Integrated Electrical Machines & Drive Systems Laboratory” at GVPCE to audience and guest speakers. The next session resumed at 02.00PM. Ms P. Manasa, Executive member of IEEE student branch, introduced the second speaker of the workshop, Dr. Peter Magyar, IEEE-IAS Chapters and Membership development. He has delivered a talk on “Electric Car Technology in Reality.” This talk ended at 03.15PM. All the audiences are very happy to know about the technology used in electric cars.

The next session was resumed at 03.30PM. Ms P. Preethi, Executive member of IEEE student branch, introduced the third speaker of the workshop, Dr. Sastry V. Vedula. He has delivered a talk on “An Integrated State of the Art Electric Machines & Drives Laboratory.” This talk has been ended at 04.15PM. All the audiences are very happy to know about the latest technology used for building a novel laboratory. Next, Mr. M.V.Pavan Kumar, Secretary of the IEEE student branch, gave vote of thanks on behalf of GVPCE, IEEE student branch addressing everyone who supported for making this workshop grand success.

On above this it’s our pleasure to have a nice interaction with Mr. David B. Durocher (President of IAS- IEEE) & Dr Peter Magyar (Chair CMD). They shared their views about the technology with few of our students. At the end of day Mr. David B. Durocher has distributed certificates to participants.
