Department of ECE, I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida organized a two daysIEEE MTTS sponsored faculty workshop on “Sources and Applications of RF and Microwaves” dated August 27-28, 2015.The resource persons were:

  1. Dr. S. K. Koul, Professor, IIT, Delhi
  2. Dr. N. S. Raghava, Asso. Professor, DTU, Delhi
  3. Dr. Rajveer S Yaduvanshi, Asst. Professor, AIACTR, Delhi
  4. Dr. Priyanka Jain, Asst. Professor, DTU, Delhi
  5. Dr. HarishParthasharthy, Professor, NSIT, Delhi

They shared their knowledge and expertise in the field of RF and Microwave with the objective to provide broader application to the participants, the workshop was distributed in 5 sessions.

This workshop was inaugurated by Prof.S. K. Koul, IITDelhi, Dr. VineetKansal, Director I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida, and Dr.Lokesh KumarBansal, HOD-ECE Department. The dignitaries were accompanied by all the faculty members of the Department.

Chief Guest, dignitaries and participates were welcomed by Dr. Lokesh Kumar Bansal, HOD-ECE Department, with welcome note.

Dr.VineetKansal emphasized on the importance of microwave in the field of communication system for the development of country. Thereafter the Chief GuestProf. S. K. Koul focused on the application of RF and microwave spectrum especially millimeter frequency band and attenuation of the signal due to increased interaction with the atmospheric constituents atthe millimeter frequency band. He also discussed different emerging technology such as Poly Strata, CMOS, LTCC, 3-D wafer Level Integration. At the end of his speech he discussed application of microwave for mankind.

The second session was started by Dr. Rajveer S Yaduvanshi,AIACTR, New Delhi his topic of discussion was “Design and Application of Dielectric Resonator Antenna”. He first discussed advantageof the dielectric resonator, field’s distribution and mode characteristics than he explainedthe design, fabrication and measurement of the antenna by using dielectric resonator and its advantage over microstrip antenna.

The third session was started on 2nd day with the address of our distinguished speaker Dr. Priyanka Jain, DTU, New Delhi, she discussed circuit behavior at low frequency and high frequency, properties of the RF current, waveguides, MIC and MMIC. At the end of her speech, she discussed some emerging design technology such as smart antenna, reconfigurable antenna, multiband antenna ad NFC antenna etc.

The fourth session was started by Dr. Harish Parthasharthy, Professor, NSIT Delhi; he discussed mathematical modeling of the waveguide to find out different field components exist in the waveguides and application’s of the Green’s function to solve boundary value problem.

The last session was started by Dr. N. S. Raghava, DTU, Delhi, he explained basic of microstrip antenna, its advantage and disadvantage in brief. After that he discussed about EBG structures and its application on microstrip antenna for size reduction and back lobe reduction.

This workshop was concluded by valedictory session with the certificate distribution to the participants, which is attended by Dr. N. S. Raghava, Dr. Lokesh Kumar Bansal and all the participants.

At last vote of thanks was given by Mr. JugulKishor Gupta, Coordinator of the workshop.
