A total of 40 students from electrical department (EEE) of IEEE BVRIT student branch along with Venu madav sir and Rama Krishna sir have visited the AIR FORCE academy dundigal on 25th October 2014. Sargent sathe is accompanied to guide us. The AIR FORCE academy dundigal is the fourth largest AIR FORCE academy in the world. We had a motivation lecture by Mr.Bhatnakar. Then we visited the museum where we have seen the pictures of many legends who have served our mother nation. Later, we have seen the whole map of AIR FORCE academy dundigal which is of 9000 acres. Then we have seen different weapons and aircrafts used by our officers since 1939. Then we have seen people who got maha vir chakra award. Nirmal jit singh sekhon is the only Indian officer who was awarded param vir chakra award. Then we have visited ATCOTE RADAR STIMULATION. The word ATCOTE means Air traffic control officers training establishment. Here, the officers control the aircrafts by sitting on ground. As it is stimulation, these officers give training to freshers also. We have seen how they control them from ground by using software. Then we have visited Diesel generator room. Then we have seen take-off and landing of trainer’s aircrafts. Then we have visited ATC. The word ATC means AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL. Here, from ground they actually control the aircrafts which are flying. They will direct the pilots from ground itself. This ATC job is considered as the second most risky jobs in the world. Then we have visited MET, where they continuously examine weather conditions. How whether is changing from time to time. They also check the run way from time to time to avoid accidents. Then we have visited aircraft’s shed, where these trainer’s aircrafts are being repaired. These aircrafts are manufactured in Switzerland. It is a 2 seater aircraft with a fuel capacity of 540 litres. It can fly continuously up to 600 miles. There is also a Bird activity section. Here, they examine that any bird is lying on run way or on any location which can damage the aircraft. If they see any bird, they shoot it and remove it out to prevent accidents. Finally, we had a visit which inspired us a lot.
