Report on ABDUL KALAM INNOVATION DAY

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering MJCET, in collaboration with IEEE CAS Chapter MJCET, celebrated Abdul Kalam Innovation Day on 6th May, 2015. Two events were conducted as a part of Innovation Day:
(1) Best Final Year Project Contest
(2) Best Innovative Idea Contest
The organizer of Innovation Day was Dr. Kaleem Fatima, H.O.D, ECE Dept., MJCET. Prof. S.P.Singh, Head of ECE Dept, MGIT, was invited as the Guest of Honour.
The first event was “Best Final Year Project Contest”, in which all the Final Year students of ECE Dept. showcased their final year projects. They also gave a presentation about the innovative aspect of their projects and their contribution to the project. About 13 projects were presented in this event from various fields like Analog VLSI, Digital VLSI, Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processing and Digital Image Processing. Students were judged based on the innovation aspect, presentation and thesis.
The second event was “Best Innovative Idea Contest”, in which students were asked to submit a report on any innovative idea related to electronics and communication field. About 18 entries were received, out of which, 2 were shortlisted for the final round, where the student had to give a presentation on their idea. The winner was decided based on the innovation aspect and presentation skills.
At the conclusion, the students were addressed by Dr. Kaleem Fatima, Dr. Basheer Ahmed, Advisor-cum-Director, MJCET, and also by Prof. S.P.Singh. Prof. Arifuddin Sohel presented the vote of thanks.
