he IEEE ACT Computer Society Chapter and NICTA are very glad to invite you to the following joint event:The Canberra Functional Programming Group (CanFP) that will be held on October 21st, hosted by NICTA.The group is aimed at programmers, developers and researchers from all backgrounds, using any language, at all levels of experience who have an interest in functional programming.If you've ever wondered what the buzz about Scala is all about, how you can make your JavaScript easier to maintain, or just want to learn new ways of thinking about problems, CanFP is for you.This month we have a guest speaker, Manuel Chakravarty, who is the co-head of the Programming Language and Systems group and an Associate Professor at UNSW in Sydney. His research includes work on the Accelerate Haskell framework for writing efficient GPU based array computations with a familiar functional syntax, among many other highly regarded projects. He will be discussing three topics:Functional Programming in a Stateful World - based on a talk that was presented at YOW! Lambdajam 2015.Haskell for Mac - a brand-new Haskell development tool that Manuel has been working on, targeted particularly at beginner-level Haskell developers .. think Swift playgrounds for Haskell!
