IEEE AU Student Branch, Visakhapatnam, successfully organised a 2 hour technical talk on "Security issues in Smart Grid", the keynote speaker of which was Dr.C.Christober Asir Rajan, professor at Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry. The session mainly focused on unique capabilities of Smart Grid systems, security features of Smart Grid, wide area monitoring using SCADA and PMU Data, multidisciplinary approaches for Cyber security, Cyber security/ intrusion detection methods and vulnerability of Smart Grid Communication Protocol and also current example applications. It also gave a brief outline of IEEE P2030 project and challenges involved. The technical talk was followed by an interaction session wherein the students interacted with the keynote speaker and discussed some of their project ideas on Smart Grid, enthusiastically.
