[Legacy Report] IEEE NITW INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
The IEEE student branch NITW celebrated International Women’s Day with endless enthusiasm and energy. The guest of the evening was Ms. Dibya Maheshwari, Software analyst at Accenture, Hyderabad. The evening started off with the welcoming of the chief guest by Ms. Swarali Joshi, followed by a brief introduction of the chief guest by Ms. Sindhuja yadavilli (Treasurer, IEEE SB NITW) . Then we had our chief guest, who believes in freedom of thoughts and believes that each individual must be given a chance to discover themselves.
She has been a co-host at TEDX Hyderabad and has delivered a talk at the IEEE students chapter held at Warangal. She is currently the president of Madhavpur toastmasters and has won the club level speech contest in the year 2015. She was also the part of the organizing team of the Limca book of records for Impromptu talk
The topic of the evening was “Women Empowerment”. She called up for four random volunteers from the crowd and there was a fun filled session with them. The talk mainly focused on how the media affects our notion on the topic “women empowerment”. She continued her talk by citing her own example on how lucky she was who had ever supporting and encouraging parents, but every girl doesn’t have that access to opportunities as she had. The session was concluded by a video, a TED talk which was based on women empowerment through driving allowance for women in Saudi Arabia. A truly inspiring evening with a very active crowd. The evening was concluded by vote of thanks given by Ms. Vrunda Shah, WIE chair and memento presentation to the chief guest by Dr. Ch. Venkaih,Student Branch Counselor, IEEE student branch NITW.
