IEEE WIE Affinity Group under IEEE Student Branch GCET was inaugurated on 23^rd April 2016. The Chief Guest of the event was Ms. Preeti Kovvali, Executive member, IEEE Young Professionals (global), Service leader, Tech Mahindra, and the Guest of Honor was Ms.Vijaya Laxmi Biradar, Chair IEEE WIE AG, Hyderabad section. The IEEE student branch at Geethanjali consists of 71 student members, out of which 55 members are girls, who are also the members of WIE. (Women in Engineering ).

The IEEE Student Branch Counselor  of  GCET is Mr. S. Vasu Krishna, Associate Professor, ECE, and the Branch Advisor of IEEE Student Branch is Dr. Nagendra Kumar, Head CSE Dept. The Students Activities Committee  (SAC) Chair, IEEE Hyderabad section Mr. D. Venkata Rami Reddy, Associate Professor ECE, GCET and Dr. Radhika S, HOD EEE,GCET an IEEE Professional Member  and a member of PES society ,who has played a key role in the formation of Solar Energy Club recently at GCET were present.

The Guest of Honor, Ms.Vijaya Laxmi Biradar, Chair IEEE WIE AG, Hyderabad Section handed over the Approval of the Petition for formation of IEEE WIE AG at GCET to the Flag Bearers of WIE Affinity Group at GCET.
