[Legacy Report] Directional dual-microphone recording of audio signals with background noise reduction

A new concept of a directional sound sensor circuitry with a dual-microphone and a parabolic rellecting bowl was costructed and presented. Its purpose is to eliminate inappropriate sounds coming from directions perpendicular to the main axis direction of the arrangement. The noise elimination was realized using adaptive filtering. With the proposed equipment more than 12 dB improvement of the signal-to-noise ratio has been achieved. usefulness of the built equipment has been confirmed with successful speech intelligibility tests performed with both logatoms and sentences.
