[Legacy Report] Introduction to Spectrum Management
Engineers from the Spectrum Planning and Engineering Branch at the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) gave a guest lecture on the topic of spectrum management. The lecture will give an introduction to what the spectrum is and why it needs to be managed, discuss how the ACMA manages spectrum in Australia, and how we are affected by international arrangements and vice-versa.
It will look at the major challenges that are in effectively regulating use of the spectrum, and what tools and techniques are used to overcome those challenges and determine the best use of the spectrum. Many of the concepts being discussed will be illustrated through real-life examples of some of the ACMA’s current spectrum planning projects.
