[Legacy Report] Students Congress: How to speak engineering languages?
The event is meant to give studnets an insight from senior staff about giving presentations at conferences. Detailed program was:
05:00 – 6:00 pm: How to present a scientific work at conferences, and sharing students own personal experiences
06:00 pm: Light dinner
06:30 – 8:00 pm: Trivia night, a socializing opportunity
DR. Fouad Karouta (Section Chair) gave a presentation about the art of presentng a scientific work as oral and as poster presentations. Then four students shared their experience about presenting their work at conferences. Afterwards a panel discussion took place with panel members: Ross Summerfield, Ambarish Natu, Greg Milford, Xiuping Jia and Fouad Karouta.
After a light dinner three teams of four participants were formed for the Trivia part that had questions related to IEEE in general, R10, Australia and ACT section, also a few questions were dedicated to Woemn who won Nobel prizes. After the trivia some mathematical quiz were played to differenciate between the students in one team. Four prizes were distributed to four students"
1- $50 to Meng Xu, PhD student at UNSW Canberra
2- $40 to Tim Burgess, PhD student at ANU Canberra
3- Two prizes of $30 to Xuejie Liu and Adnan Awan both from UNSW Canberra
Three of the four winners are IEEE student members (only Adnan is not an IEEE member).
All participants enjoyed much the event.
