[Legacy Report] DISTINGUISHED LECTURER PROGRAM 12th Dec 2016

GITAM University in association with IEEE Vizag bay sub section and IEEE AP/MTT/EMC society joint chapter of IEEE Hyderabad section has organized Distinguished Lecturer Program on the 12^th of December, 2016 that included invited talks by scientists from DRDO, ISRO and eminent speakers of various societies of IEEE.

 

The chief guest of the inaugural function was Dr. Sudhakar Rao, FIEEE,FIETE,IEEE APS, distinguished lecturer, technical fellow at Northrop Grumman, Aerospace systems, USA.  Guest of honour Dr.S.Lakshmi Narayana, Chair, IEEE Vizag bay sub section, Dr. Abraham Varghese, scientist-G & Vice Chair of IEEE Vizag bay sub section, Prof. K. Laxmi Prasad, Principal GIT, Dr. G. Karunakar, Branch counsellor of GITAM IEEE student branch,               Mr. P. Chandrasekhar, Chairman SAC Vizag bay subsection, Coordinator DLP and Md.K.M.Chisti, Senior member IEEE, faculty advisor IEEE SPS, Coordinator DLP, were present in KRC auditorium.

 

The inaugural was followed by a distinguished lecturer program by Dr. Sudhakar Rao on “Advanced Antenna systems for 21^st century satellite communications”. He gave a brief introduction to satellite communications. He also discussed about new satellite services such as communication satellite service, mobile satellite, hybrid satellites etc., that made a big impact on the living style of humans in daily life. As a part of his lecture, he discussed about future trends in satellite antennas, software/Hardware Design and testing of various antennas and payloads. More than 150 members from various colleges were present for the session including the students, research scholars and faculty. There was also a noteworthy talk by T.Sushma Leela, SE, ISRO, Hyderabad.

GITAM IEEE student branch also conducted “Women in Engineering” program that included various events. They also made a note that a separate section for IEEE Vizag is to be formed in the near future. We were immensely thankful to Dr. Sudhakar Rao who had agreed to give us his noteworthy lecture.
