[Legacy Report] Inaugural Function of IEEE WIE society at GITAM University

GITAM IEEE student Branch, Visakhapatnam has inaugurated Women in Engineering (W.I.E) society of IEEE, which aims at making women feel the actual essence of Engineering on 22ndjuly, 2017. The occasion has turned out to be a perfect stage to share an appreciable amount of wisdom thoughts of the dignitaries with the student community of GITAM University.

Inaugurating the society, Dr. G. Ramadevi, DGM, Steel plant, chief guest of the occasion explained the role and responsibility of every women in shaping the country’s development and the importance of education in that process.

Adding his part to enlighten the students, DR. Abraham Varughese, Chairman, IEEE Vizag Bay Sub-Section quoted many reasons for women getting dropped out from education and its results on economy.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. N. Deepika Rani, coordinator, WIE, Vizag Bay sub-section shared her thoughts on steps to be taken to promote girl education. She wanted every women individual to shine at equal standards as men in the field of science and technology.

Dr. S. Lakshmi Narayana, past chair, IEEE Vizag Bay sub-section, sharing his thoughts with the student community, mentioned the various aspects of WIE, its structure, the ways it can help women students and wished participation into WIE should increase with time.

Prof. K. Lakshmi Prasad, Principal, GIT, while addressing the gathering, explained the role of professional societies in the life of an Engineering student, the way they help a student to think out of the box and wished many more societies should take their inception in the University.

Prof. P.V.Y. Jayasree, coordinator, WIE, GIT, shared the success story of establishment of WIE at GIT, the amount of efforts that went into the process and the reasons for that strenuous efforts. She wanted every student to utilize the resources to the fullest and have them in their tool box of tools for development.

Mr. Md. K. M. Chisti, Student Activity Member (SAC), IEEE, Vizag Sub Section, Shandilya Kambhampati, GITAM SB Chair, GIT, and other faculty members of GITAM expressed their warm regards on this occasion.
