This talk provides an insight into how Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are beginning to prove their value for the study of detailed water availability. Measuring networks, whether for run-off in the cities or the amount of snow in the mountains, can provide dense data in time and space. It will introduce the use of WSNs in the forest, a difficult environment. The novel
hardware will be described as well as computer-enhanced methodologies to locate networks and senors at a location. Machine learning is combined with Google Earth,
LiDAR, and topographic data to optimize network layout. The solution of problems found working outside will be discussed as will the application of this methodology to the
Philippines.
