[Legacy Report] Seminar on High Speed Trains and Metro Technologies – Issues & Options
IEEE TEMS DELHI Chapter technically supported Seminar on High Speed Trains and Metro Technologies – Issues & Options held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 0900 hrs to 16:30 hrs at Multipurpose Hall, India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003. This Technical event, was organised/supported by three other leading technical societies i.e., Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) and Institution of Railway Electrical Engineers (IREE).
The Inaugural Function was presided over by Er. Ghanshyam Singh, Member Traction, Railway Board and Ex Officio Secretary to Govt of India. The conference was addressed by Er. Anoop Gupta, Vice Chairman/IET/DLN and Director Electrical Delhi Metro Railway, Er. Achal Khare, MD / National High Speed Rail Corporation, Dr. Mangu Singh MD / DMRC and Er Dayal Dogra, Chief Electrical Engineer / Northern Railway and Secretary General IREE. The vote of thanks was accorded by Er Ashish Shrivastava, Secy, IET/DLN.
The Seminar comprised of Three Sessions Technical Session I –Emerging trends in High speed Traction, Technical Session II- Technology used in MRTS Systems, Technical Session III-Indian Issues and options-Finance. This was followed by a Panel discussion.
Technical Session I –Emerging trends in High speed Traction was Chaired by Mr. N. Venkatesan Past Chairman IET-DLN & Former Member Electrical and Co-chaired by Mr. V K Dutt, Former AML-Rly Board and Chair, IEEE TEMS, Delhi. The Speakers in this session were Mr. V K Dutt, Former AML-Rly Board on High Speed in India –Challenges and Opportunities, Mr. Alok Katiyar GM/S&T National High Speed Rail Corporation on Building High Speed with Safety, Reliability and Comfort in India, Mr. M P Singh, CEO High Speed Rail Corporation of India on High Speed Rail Operation-Key Issues.
Technical Session-II-Technological Developments in MRTS systems was Chaired by Mr. Satish Kumar, Advisor (Elect), Kochi Metro Rail Limited and Co-chaired by Mr. A.K. Singh, Executive Director (Elect. - II). DMRC. The Speakers in this session were Mr. A. K. Garg, ED / Elect. I, DMRC on Latest innovations in Traction Distribution Systems of Delhi Metro Railway and Mr. M. K. Singhal, ED / Tr, DMRC on Safety Issues in Delhi Metro Railways.
The Panel Discussion was moderated by Mr. Anoop Kumar Gupta, Director (Electrical), DMRC and V. Chairman, IET – DLN and the session was coordinated by Mr. R. N. Rajpoot, Chairman, IET (DLN).
