[Legacy Report] Coding Theory Addresses the Challenges of Big Data Storage
The problem of retrieving data on an erasure channel was introduced. Instances of this problem in storage in large data-centers were explained. Examples from Reed-Solomon codes - Algebraic Coding - were taken. Graph topologies for storing data and retrieving were shown. Some recent advances in distributed storage were also discussed
