Professional Engineering – Benefits and Licensing Requirements

On Thursday, January 11, 2018, the IEEE Consultants' Network of Northern NJ (www.TechnologyOnTap.org) will present a talk by James J. (Jim) Purcell, board member of the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

 ABOUT THE TOPIC

The presentation will focus on two topics, the benefits of being licensed as a Professional Engineer and the steps required to become licensed. Since few electrical engineers are professional engineers, attaining the necessary qualifications, such as working under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer, can be a challenge. Jim will discuss how to address this and other issues. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. Afterwards the CNNNJ will hold a planning meeting.

 ABOUT THE SPEAKER

James J. (Jim) Purcell is a Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience in consulting engineering, primarily in the design of highways and other infrastructure. A resident of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Jim has been a member of the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors since 2005 and has served twice as the board president. In August 2017, Jim was installed as President-Elect of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
