1. Meeting started with a welcome note by Dr Rajashree Jain and in the absence of Prof G S Mani, Chair, IEEE Pune Section, Prof. Mandar Khurjekar, Vice Chair, was requested to lead the proceedings for the day.
2. The proceeding began with approval of the MoM held on 29 July 2017.   Prof Khurjekar shared about an outstanding achievement of the section and a congratulatory note received from 2017 Chair, IEEE Membership Recruitment and Recovery Committee, that “Pune Section for meeting its recruitment goal for the 2017 membership year.” The membership development goals were developed based on Section’s three year performance. In recognition of this achievement, an E mail attachment image was shared with execom members. The image can be used as  e-mail signature by the members.
3. SS12 is  a Asia level  Coding  and  Making  Challenge  jointly  organized  by  IEEE  Education  Society(IEEE Madras),  Project  Possibility  and  REAL  Breakthrough  to  realize  the  Practice  Based    IEEE Pune Section was one of the pilots for Prelimsof SS12. The section in collaboration with, Education and Computer Society chapters and WiE Affinity group conducted  SS12 project prelims competition on 21 August2017 at IIIT Pune campus.  7 teams and 21 participants presented their innovative ideas to the esteemed panel of jury. The winner team participated in the finals held on 8-9 September 2017, at Hyderabad, representing the section.

 

4. Update of Activities
   1. Chapter/Affinity Chairs
   2. PES/I AS –Dr. DJ Doke, Chair, PES/IAS Chapter, shared about the report of last DL visit and Lecture held at PVGCOET. The report will be shared soon with the section.
   3. Edu Society -Dr. Vivek Deshpande  reported about two events conducted.  He also mentioned about rescheduling TDCS-IEEE Awareness contest and requested permission for conducting this in  2018. As per suggestions by the Execom it is resolved that the contest be held before December 2017.  New dates will be shared soon.  He also shared about two workshops conducted under education society ; reports for the same are awaited.  Another proposal under Digital Literacy Mission of GOI,  a training workshops for Pune Police can be undertaken with the help of IEEE Pune section and Education Society. The chapter also has received $1000 towards  DL during an upcoming conference.

• Computer Society: ( In absence ) Mr Gorakh, Chair, Comp.Soc., shared about IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter being  inaugurated at PICT. 

1. Execom noted with concerns about no reporting from Communication and SP Society.
2. WIE in collaboration with YP conducted a one day Industry Insight FDP with IBM.  Lekha Phijo, Chair, WIE  shared a details of the FDP  conducted by IBM staffers to IEEE/ WIE members of the section.  The event attracted 60 members and has received very positive feedback from all stake holders.
3. Mr Girish Khilari, Chair, Industry relations shared details about the IEEE Student internship opportunities. In this connection a mail was sent to all student members of the section early June 2017. About 90 students have responded and were keen in seeking internships with IEEE Pune Section Industry Interface. A detailed report for the same is awaited.

• Newsletter /Website -Dr. Neha Sharma shared  updates regarding website.
• Dr. Rajesh Ingle, Chair Conference committee, shared conference approvals and concerns related to the conference quality. A proposal about PUNECON has been shared with the Execom. He has also mentioned about the upcoming conferences and few proposal requests coming from nearby geographical areas like Lonavala, Kolhapur, Karad etc.

1. Dr. Yogesh Dandawate shared about meetings conducted at various colleges in connection with membership development and IEEE Section promotions. Dr. Rajashree Jain conducted an interactive  session with faculty members of  VIIT  for prospective IEEE -WIE membership developments.
2. Finance: Updates were shared by Dr Surekha Deshmukh (in absence) and Prof. Mandar Khurjekar.

5. Others

The execom resolved the following points.

Resolution -1

 

Nomination Committee for the year 2018.

The nomination committee will comprise the immediate past three chairs in the order mentioned below,

1. Chairperson - Immediate past Chair, IEEE Pune section

• Member-  Past Chair,

1. Member - Past Chair, of the section in the chronological order of their tenure, 

In case of unavailability of the Chairperson/ Member person due to any unavoidable reasons, the request will be forwarded to the next past chairs until the committee is complete with all positions in place.

Resolution – 2

A sponsorship request from IEEE India Council towards All India Student, YP and WIE congress to be held  27-29 September 2017, at IIIT Allahabad was declined  due to paucity of funds.  

Resolution -3

Student requests for support funds to attend AISYWC 2017, the committee suggested that student members can apply for the same with their respective student branches.
