On 8th-9th, Apr 2017, IEEE Computer Society Karachi Section & Department of Computer Science, UOK organized “The 3rd IEEE Pakistan Computer Science Congress with the Theme “Ocean of Technology” at HEJ Auditorium, University of Karachi under supervision of Dr. Engr. Sadiq Ali Khan, Chair IEEE Computer Society Karachi Section and Engr. Hassam Mughal, Treasurer IEEE Computer Society Karachi Section along with the team that comprised of the students of Department of Computer Science, University of Karachi and NED UET. With all efforts, the congress provided a perfect platform for exchange of ideas among peers.
Many National and International speakers invited at the congress to share their valuable knowledge among hundreds of students from all over Pakistan. The next speaker was Mr. Saleem M. Rafiq – CEO open source foundation. He presented his views on Technology for social Development. He shared about Digitization in social fabric.
The last speaker of first day, Muhammad Ahsan Farooqui – Radio Network Design Engineer, Ericsson Pakistan, SAC Chair, IEEE Islamabad Section, the last speaker of first day spoke about Challenge and Opportunities for Computing in Pakistan.
The first speaker of the 2nd day was Professor Dr. Tim Sprecklan – Professor at Habib University. He explained about partitioning Large Digital Designs Across Multiple FPGAs.
Another speech on New technologies in Software development in IOT, BIG DATA and AI was delivered by Babur Zahoor – Founder of Open Source Foundation who said that Digital divide is increasing among nations, some nations are very developed in tech whereas some nations are deprived.
Later, Mr. Parkash Lohana – Associate Professor UIT, IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Activities coordinator and Senior Member IEEE Karachi Section discussed about Humanitarian Technology and Role of Computing, Software Engineering and ICT.
Later Miss. Asma Sajid - IEEE Member, Microsoft Faculty Connection in GCUF, Lecturer in Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan highlighted Cybercrimes and basic security tips. She mentioned that things are connected in a digital world.
Engr IRFAN AHMAD Energy Consultant, Technical Advisor of Hydro China Dawood Power (Pvt) Ltd, Technical Advisor to Power China International for Wind Solar Hybrid Projects, Technocrat Member of Sindh Energy Department Solar Committee and Resource person to SAARC Energy Centre shared his views on the current affairs in the I.T Industry.
Our next speaker was Mr. Shahmeer Amir - CEO, Veiliux (Prev. Cyphlon), the 3rd most accomplished Bug Bounty Hunter Worldwide, Pakistan. He talked about the art of bug hunting related to cybersecurity.
Last Speaker of the Congress was Dr. Nazir Ahmed Vaid - Chairman at NexSource Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. He talked about Emerging Technologies causing disruptions. He added that It is essential for the budding engineers to remain updated of what they will experience in their professional life. Before the closing ceremony, there was a Panel Discussion on the topics related to the congress theme with a resolution to be passed on the solutions of problems discussed. Dr. Parkash Lohana hosted the Panel Discussion, the Speakers in Panel Discussion were Dr. Babar Zahoor, Dr. Salim Rafiq, Tahir Mehmood Chowdhry, Engr. Irfan Ahmed and Dr. Nazir Ahmed.
Finally, in the Closing Ceremony, Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chaudhry paid token of appreciation and thanks to the Chief Guests. After him, 2nd Chief Guest Mr. Khadim Hussain Bhatti – Additional IG traffic police shared his remarks as, this year IEEE Computer Society Karachi section was honored to host PCSC ’17.
Deputy Mayor, Karachi, Arshad Vohra, Additional Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Khadim Hussain Bhatti, Chairmen of Umair Bhasa Foundation, Dr Fatima Zehra Basha were also present in the closing ceremony of the event to make it more remarkable.
Closing ceremony also concluded with closing talks by Deputy Mayor Karachi, Chairmen Umair Bhasa Foundation and Dr. M. Sadiq Khan. Shields were also distributed among chief guests and speakers
