The 8th Nagpur Proposed Subsection meet was attended by following members belonging to academia, various engineering institutes in Nagpur region, at above cited venue:

Minutes:

 

  1. Review of activities conducted under by various Student Branches including Tech MUN, and Entrepreneurship under WIE was conducted. IEEE Business plan submitted by proposed Nagpur subsection to MGA along with Petition is reviewed.
  2. Dr. Bajaj briefed regarding proposed R10 flagship event INDICON. Since the activity is to be sanctioned to the section so section and subsection has to be in lead role. She talked about database is to be maintained at Nagpur, about the expertise that who can handle what, and how the work is to be distributed. Around 2000 paper submissions expected from all over world, out of which 500 to 700 to be considered for acceptance. Sun-n-sand, Suraburdi, Chitnavis park like venue are under consideration. One day session at TCS or any other industry based on availability. Keynote sessions, pre-conference workshops, post conference or special tutorial sessions may be made as a point of attraction for participants. Tentative planning of committees for conference which included International or National Advisory Board, Technical Program Committee, Registration/Finance Chair, Publication Chair and Co-chair, Local Arrangement Chair. Logistics can be outsourced for better management. Explera, a startup initiative, which is recently being used at Pune and Kerela may be used for outsourcing the registration of INDICON. It is accepted that the Steering Committee of proposed INDICON to have representation from all colleges of subsection as well as from India Council, Bombay section and Industry.
  3. It was asked to all concerned about Annual Branch Report to be submitted by all Branch Counselors for claiming the annual rebate from the Bombay Section. It is highlighted that besides reporting, number of IEEE members retained and type of activities conducted at SB level will also be considered for releasing of rebate. Annual report one of the important criteria for the section branch awards also. It was appealed to all Branch counselors to be active and all should visit https://m.ieee.org to get help and awareness about IEEE activities and submissions.
  4. It is proposed by Dr. Preeti Bajaj that , Google Sheet and Drive to be shared among all branch counselors by 5th May 2017, for updating upcoming activities and activities conducted.
  5. Copy of the annual report to be forwarded to all office bearers of Nagpur Subsection.
  6. Matter was discussed with VNIT faculties to plan more student activities under student branch at VNIT.
  7. Vice Chair and SAC requested to provide guidance about opportunities to increase student representation at National Level events, by collecting and spreading awareness about events at section level and India Council.
  8. Dr. Dorle informed that the process of bank account can be done only after formal approval of subsection.
  9. It is decided that Dr. Bawane will receive information from all student branch and submit a consolidated report to Bombay section. Dr. Bajaj recommended referring formats of section annual report and to prepare half yearly or quarterly and annual report of the sub-section in similar manner.
  10. Dr. Bajaj suggested ensuring publication of some significant events in IEEE newsletters of India Council and Asia Pacific if timely consolidated information is given.
  11. TPC to maintain the name, email-id and specialized domains in excel sheet.
  12. Mr Arvind kumar was requested to provide 4 hours Industrial Training for IEEE students of Nagpur subsection arena in July 2017. 10 students from each college to be encouraged for the same.
  13. As per discussion, Dr. Satya to co-ordinate for conducting SKEP lecture series at VNIT, GHRCE and Cummins College, in August 2017.
  14. Official approval of Nagpur sub section is expected in  June 2017. After getting subsection sanctioned, official approval of the committee is to be done. If any member wishes to take any position then election can be held and final decision to be made by Nomination Committee.
  15. Dr. Bajaj requested Dr. D. P. Kothari to be Nomination committee Chair, and Deepak Mathur (Past Chair at India Council) will be requested to contribute for the same. Dr. Kothari accepted the proposal.
  16. Dr. Bajaj also discussed email about recently formed IEEE technical communities and encouraged active participation by all members through customized CV as per the needs of the community. This would help to increase the representation at a larger level. The meeting concluded with a brief session on SIGHT, by Dr. Joshi and vote of thank by Dr. Narendra Bawane.
