IEEE Hashemite University SB - IEEE DAY 2017 Celebration
Our event was aimed to students whom are interested in technology in Hashemite University, it took place at the engineering faculty.
Our main objectives from this event were introducing IEEE to the students of Hashemite University specially the freshmen, showing the students some projects made from scratch by students like them as well as benefiting the students in both technical and non-technical skills which will form a successful student that will have a higher chance in the labor markets in addition to helping our community to grow and evolve by applying IEEE programs like Educational activities programs and IEEE Societies.
We believe that the only way to reduce the gap between the theoretical and the practical side is by giving the students enough motivation to start creating their own projects which will move us as a country to a higher rank.
As fellows of technology we believe that the best motivation to create will come by IEEE Day since it is a celebration where all chapters from different fields will leave a print.
Due to the responses we received and because we found that the previous Outline of IEEE-day was the most appropriate in approaching the highest number of students who are interested in technology we thought of upgrading a better version for the new IEEE-day.
Our celebration included two main events:
The first event (Exhibition): (8:00AM-11:00AM)
Since the booths were an expanded long-term event which can find students attention in addition to coping with the students schedule no matter when their lectures will be, An outdoor event took place in the main squares of the Engineering Faculty, we confirmed the booths as the best methodology with adding a special feature of “games and coins”.
To motivate students to approach and ask about IEEE, there were many booths from several specialties and each booth focused on its field which will make each one of them unique, Also, the theme was “the candy shop”, explained later.
As a growing up plan, we improved the quality of the booth and expanded the contents into bigger areas which gave every team an extra space to be innovative and creative
The booths were distributed as the following:
We planned to have 6 different kinds of booths distributed in the busiest areas in the faculty of Engineering (Total of 14 Booths), 2 booths for the branch, 2 booth for WIE AG, 1 booth for Educational Activities Program and 9 booths for the technical chapters (3 for Computer Chapter, 3 for Robotics and Automation Chapter and 3 for Engineering in Medicine and Biology Chapter) the candy shop booth and the photo booth.
The booths are IEEE’s trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information in the University.

The Auditorium: (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
The second part of IEEE day was held in the auditorium of the faculty of engineering, it focused on technical and non-technical aspects.
As for the nontechnical, students had the chance to know more about IEEE, globally and the branch, they also had glimpses to enlighten the students about IEEE Student branch, and some of our student branch’s statistics and achievements.

The details of the Agenda:
1) The ceremony was opened with our mentor’s speech, he talked about IEEE day 2017, the agenda of the auditorium and a brief speech about the achievements and future dreams.
2) The Chairman’s speech, the chairman of HU SB talked about important subjects related to the organization such as the administrative pyramid of IEEE and how volunteers form the peak of the pyramid, and the professional volunteering.
3) The Computer Society Chapter Chairman talked about the duties and plans of CS through the semester.
*also, one of the CSC committee member talked about a serious issue which is between reality and mirage (virtual reality).
4) The chairwoman of IEEE HU WIE AFG explained the WIE's both vision and mission and why do we need WIE Affinity groups, she also emphasized the benefits of joining WIE.
*After that, she demonstrated some of the WIE HU activities over the last year.
Then the WIE team displayed a short video that was about three female entrepreneurs, the obstacles they encountered and how they overcame it, and a brief of their projects, all in a simple storytelling way. (The interviews were made by the WIE team).
5) The Robotics and Automations Society Chairwoman talked about: the objectives of Robotics and Automation Chapter, some of the work that presented by the chapter during the previous
year, this year team and their plan for the year, and her personal experience of volunteering in IEEE Hashemite University Student Branch.
* The Vice-Chairman of the RAS Chapter discussed the possibility of the development of robots, and if we can quantify machine consciousness, what are the Consciousness and what are robots?
6) The Educational Activities chapter chairman talked about the new formation of EA team as well as the chapter's plans through this semester which will focus mainly on school-students. Added to that he shared his story and what inspired him to join IEEE.
7) The chairman of EMBS chapter gave a speech about EMBS beginning, activities, and main goal. After that a presentation about the dialysis machine history and how it develops was given by two officers.
