Dip a toe or Dive in! – Data Science is for Everyone

Data Science has a long history but has recently resurfaced as a hot and growing field. The speaker will touch on trends and developments that are driving this and describe her own professional and personal journey that has led her to this area of study. Data science is more accessible than ever, with advanced software and increased data availability, compelling us all to be smart and ethical consumers of data and enabling all to make data-informed decisions in whatever industry or area we pursue.

Biography:

Patricia McCrink is an engineer at AT&T with 30-year career that started at Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ. Her educational background is in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research with BS from Rutgers University and MS from Cornell University. Over her career, Pat has worked with various technologies (Advanced Toll-Free Services, VoIP, Aggregated access, Routing/Switching) and in various roles from Systems Engineering to hands-on lab work. She currently is engaged in certification testing of network routers that carry traffic from cell towers back to AT&T’s core network.
