The PES and IAS Chapters will sponsor a technical seminar on the topic of Lighting. The session will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Philips Lighting Application Center 200 Franklin Square Drive,
Somerset, NJ 08873.
Topic:
• Light and Color - you'll leave with a basic vocabulary to use with your customers and colleagues
o Including a visual experience of CRI, CCT and a host of other lighting terms.
• Comparative light level and wattage measurements of both traditional and the latest light source technologies.
• Three technologies:
o Ceramic Metal Halide - including what it is, when to use it, and experience it in the High Bay Theater to compare it with High Pressure Sodium and Quartz Metal Halide
o High Performance Fluorescent - lamp and ballast systems, and high performance luminaires, shown side-by-side, and measured for performance hands-on.
o Solid State Lighting - LED - how it works, its strengths, weaknesses and how it differs from the traditional light source. Again, we will light it up, experience it, and measure its performance.
• Along the way we will sprinkle in the legislative changes driving some of this technological change.
• Lighting has changed and is continuing to change at a dramatic pace. Come experience light.
