[Legacy Report] IEEE GOLD Meeting - How to Buy a House?
This IEEE GOLD meeting will be held at Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent, in Murray Hill, NJ. The meeting will take place in Room 6A-106, which is located near the main entrance behind the Bell Labs Showcase exhibition area. It is not necessary to sign in to access this area.
There will be a get-together with a buffet starting at 6 pm. The meeting will start at 6:30 pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting. You do not have to be an IEEE member to attend.
Speakers: Timothy O’Shea, Sheila Gehrke, Joseph Dunn, Dean Arrington, and Rosemary Stone-Dougherty
Abstract. Presentations by the five speakers give general information on aspects that are to be taken into account when buying a house. Each of the speakers will cover a different part of this process. Tim O’Shea will give an introduction, and Sheila Gehrke will then provide an outline of the general house-buying process. Joseph Dunn will cover home financing, Loren Arrington will discuss home inspections, and Rosemary Stone-Dougherty will discuss the contract review. At the end of the presentations there will be a panel discussion.
Biographies
Timothy O'Shea is a manager at Weichert Realtors. He received a B.S. Degree in Advertising and Communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1972. He is managing the Summit Real Estate office with more than 45 agents.
Sheila Gehrke is a Realtor with Weichert Realtors, since 2011. She was previously employed as a Programmer/Analyst at Exxon, a National Systems Project Manager/Consultant at Xerox, as a Director of National Print Operations at McGraw-Hill, and as a Vice-President Digital Print at ADP/CGII. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors.
Joseph Dunn is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, Mount Laurel, NJ.
Loren D. (Dean) Arrington is a partner of Dean Arlington Associates, a home inspection services company. He received a B.S. Engineering degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1964, and an M.S. Engineering Management degree from Drexel University in 1975. He is a professional engineer of the State of New Jersey and has several certifications related to home inspection. Dean Arrington served from 1964 until 1969 as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy, and as a Plant Engineer at Western Electric/AT&T from 1969 until 1996. He began conducting inspections of private homes in 1982, and, after his retirement from AT&T in 1996, he began operating this business full-time.
Rosemary Stone-Dougherty is with the Law Offices of Rosemary Stone-Dougherty, Esq., LLC, located in Chatham, NJ. She is an experienced land use and real estate attorney, and she also provides legal assistance in the areas of Estate Planning, Last Will & Testaments, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, Probate, Landlord/Tenant disputes, and collection.
