[Legacy Report] Gold-Methods in Direction Finding
Smith-Rose and Hopkins state that direction-finding of ultra-short waves was attempted from the times of Hertz (1880’s) itself. Later, various systems for direction finding have been attempted using rotatable beams (mechanical)leading to the development on a commercial scale of the course-indicating beacons and landing-beam systems now in use for the guidance of aircraft. As a fall out of advances in digital technology and Digital Signal Processing (DSP)electronic beam-steering replaced mechanical systems. The problems of direction-finding at high frequencies were stated by Ross. In this presentation, state of the art techniques developed by speaker will be discussed.
