[Legacy Report] Tour of Ames Power Generation Facility
We will gather at 5:30PM for a tour of the Ames Power Generation Facility.
The power plant was started in 1896. In 1975 the Resource Recovery Plant was completed and the utility began burning Refuse Derived Fuel as a supplemental fuel source. They are now in the process of converting from coal to natural gas including control room expansion, new DCS and new turbine control. We will have the opportunity to "walk the turbine floor".
If you can, please join us for dinner at Olde Main Brewing on Main Street in Ames immediately after the tour. Each person will order from the menu and will be responsible for the cost of their own meal.
